Gabriel Magalhaes (27 years old), the central defender of Arsenal, suffered a thigh injury during the friendly match won by the national team of Brazil against the representative of Senegal, score 2-0, played at the stadium of the “gunners”, Emirates.

Gabriel left the field in the 64th minute, being replaced by Wesley Franca, and has already returned to the club's base to begin the recovery process.

Gabriel's injury comes at a difficult time for Arsenal as they face three extremely difficult games. “The Gunners” will host the derby with Tottenham on November 23, and 3 days later Bayern Munich will come to the Emirates, in the 5th stage of the Champions League. The month ends with another London derby at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea on November 30.

Gabriel Magalhaes may be out until January

According to the first estimates, the Brazilian defender could be out of action for at least 4 weeks, but some sources, quoted by the BBC, suggest that his recovery could be extended until January. The exact date of his return will be determined in the coming days after further investigations.

With Gabriel and William Saliba in the center of defence, Arsenal have conceded just 5 goals in the current Premier League season.

Currently, Mikel Arteta has several squad problems, having unavailable players such as captain Martin Odegaard, but also Noni Madueke, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres.

Gabriel is in his sixth season in Arsenal's shirt following his €26 million move from Lille in 2020. Meanwhile, the Brazilian defender reached a fee of 75 million euros.

Gabriel has already ticked off 181 matches for the “gunners” in the Premier League, during which he scored 18 goals.

Arsenal are top of the league with 26 points after the first 11 matches, 4 points ahead of main chasers Manchester City.
