One of the most budget-friendly sour creams, Nizhnyaya Tavda, turned out to be hazardous to health. Because of the antibiotic azithromycin found in it – with possible side effects such as deafness and even death.
Rosselkhoznadzor specialists jointly examined the sour cream with the Tyumen prosecutor’s office after consumer complaints. As a result, after identifying the violations described above, the sour cream manufacturer Tyumenmoloko LLC was notified of the suspension of the declaration of compliance with quality standards for 20 percent sour cream. “Nizhnyaya Tavda” is sold in most large Russian stores and is in demand due to its low price.
Previously, American scientists found that azithromycin increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases more than other antibiotics, and in rare cases leads to death from heart failure.
