Following the victory achieved by the national team of England in the World Cup preliminaries, 2-0 against Serbia, the legendary Wayne Rooney (40 years old) believes that Jack Grealish (30 years old) can “already book his vacation for next summer”, reasoning that he is not part of the plans of the selector Thomas Tuchel (52 years old).
The German officially became England manager on January 1, 2025, and Grealish has not received a call-up since. The last appearance of the English star in the national team took place in October 2024, in a victory against Finland, score 3-1, a match in which he opened the scoring in the 18th minute.
Wayne Rooney adamant Jack Grealish won't be called up for 2026 World Cup: 'He can already book his summer holiday'
Transferred by Manchester City from Aston Villa in the summer of 2021 for 100 million pounds, Jack Grealish performed for 4 seasons for the “citizens”, and this season he was loaned to Everton.
Grealish has quickly become a key player for David Moyes, with the Englishman managing to score a goal and provide 4 assists in 10 Premier League appearances.
Although he seems to have regained his form, Grealish has not entered Thomas Tuchel's plans at all, and Wayne Rooney, a player with 120 caps for England, believes that will not be the case at next year's finals either.
“Jack Grealish can already book his summer holiday as he won't make the cut. You think Anthony Gordon hasn't been called up so I think Thomas Tuchel is pretty set on the squad”, said Wayne Rooney, according to givemesport.com.
England easily won the preliminary group, having after 7 matches as many victories, during which time they scored 20 times without conceding a goal. Thomas Tuchel's team has only one more game to play this campaign, away to Albania.
