MTS launched a high-speed Internet network in the village of Tolstoy Mys in the Balakhta-Novoselovsky district. More than 600 residents of a settlement located in the southwest of the Krasnoyarsk Territory received stable access to the LTE network.
The emergence of fast mobile Internet will allow people to digitize and simplify parts of their lives. For example, it will become easier to order the necessary goods, fill out documents through government services, and stay in touch with relatives.
The fourth generation connection also works on the lake of the same name nearby, known among winter fishing enthusiasts from the Krasnoyarsk Territory as a location where crucian carp is found. Access to the MTS network will allow fishermen to stay in touch with rescue services around the clock, use navigation systems and share impressions of their catch via video link.

“This year we are working hard to improve the quality of communications in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, actively expanding coverage and increasing Internet capacity in small settlements in the region. Today, our telecom operators have connected more than 100 settlements in the region to the LTE network, including small towns and villages, key roads and tourist locations,” said Sergei Yegoshin, director of MTS in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The village of Tolsty Mys got its name from the mountain Tolsty Mys, originally called “Tospakh Tigey” in Khakass – “thick peak”. The first inhabitants of the village were immigrants from Kazakhstan, Altai and the Urals.
