At the regional Office of Rospotrebnadzor, Krasnoyarsk residents were told about the healing properties of horseradish.
Experts believe that the more vigorous the horseradish, the more beneficial it is. The spiciness of table horseradish depends primarily on the freshness of the raw materials, that is, the root itself from which the seasoning is made. However, the substances contained in it, which give the product a pungent taste, are unstable during storage and quickly deteriorate. Therefore, you should choose the seasoning that contains horseradish root, and not dry horseradish.
It is also necessary to pay attention to the date of manufacture. After all, the more time has passed since this date, the less spicy the seasoning will ultimately be.
“Horseradish contains sinigrin, which reduces inflammation and relieves pain, so the seasoning can not only be eaten, but also used externally,” noted Rospotrebnadzor.
At the same time, experts added that it is better to store horseradish in the refrigerator with the lid tightly closed, since rays of light and room temperature greatly reduce the shelf life of the seasoning.
