In the opinion of “FAZ”, the dispute over the nomination of 46 judges is part of the broader context of the struggle for power in Poland, which may lead to paralysis of the judiciary in the long run. The daily notes that the Polish government cannot easily undermine President Nawrocki's arguments, as was the case with the decisions of his predecessor, Andrzej Duda.

The article also recalled that the National Council of the Judiciary, responsible for preparing promotions, is criticized by liberal political circles and European institutions as an unconstitutional body..
President Nawrocki announced on Wednesday that he does not intend to appoint judges who question the constitutional powers of the head of state and the Polish legal system. He also accused parts of the judicial community of being guided by the “evil whispers” of Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek, which – in his opinion – encourage questioning the constitutional order in Poland. The president announced that for the next five years he will not promote people who openly criticize the political instrumentalization of the justice system by the previous PiS government.
According to “FAZ”, Nawrocki's decision justified by political considerations, it further weakens the already weakened state of the rule of law in Poland. The German daily also notes that this situation may lead to greater tensions in the Polish justice system, as well as in the relations between various authorities.

The Ministry of Justice announced on Wednesday evening that it had received a letter from the Chancellery of the President regarding the refusal to appoint judges, but without a formal justification. President Nawrocki emphasizes that his decisions do not require additional explanation, and judges should focus on their judicial work, instead of transforming courtrooms into a place of political debates.
