Jannik Sinner beat Alexander Zverev and is in the semi-finals at the ATP Finals

Jannik Sinner (24, 1 ATP), the reigning ATP Finals champion, got past Alexander Zverev (28, 5 ATP) 6-4, 6-3 in the “Bjorn Borg” group, after defeating him in the first match on Felix Auger-Aliassime (25 years old, 8 ATP). The Italian is the first player to qualify for the semi-finals at this edition.
“Matches against Sascha are always a special occasion,” said Jannik Sinner after beating Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals of the Paris tournament. Seventeen days later, the Italian and the German were face to face again in Turin, as part of the “Bjorn Borg” group.
With one victory already on their books at this year's edition, Zverev and Sinner, both winners of the Tour of Champions, Jannik in 2024 and Alexander in 2021, met for the tenth time in Turin's Inalpi Arena. It was a more balanced duel than the one in Paris, where Sinner prevailed 6-0, 6-1.
Alexander Zverev held on very well in the first set, managing to challenge his opponent at many times with well-calibrated shots, but succumbed in the end when Sinner broke, converting the third set point and winning 6-4.
In the second part, Sinner broke away faster in the sixth game, while desperation was evident in the German's game. Jannik never looked back and closed out the match after an hour and thirty-five minutes, 6-4, 6-3.
The last matches in the “Bjorn Borg” group are Ben Shelton – Jannik Sinner and Felix Auger-Aliassime – Alexander Zverev. The world leader, however, has no more emotions, as he has already secured his qualification for the semi-finals.

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, duel for the first place in the world
Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are fighting this week not only for the trophy, but also for the world leader position at the end of the year. The Italian must impose himself without losing a game and hope that the Spaniard does not collect three victories in this tournament.
Alcaraz has two wins already, and on Thursday he will fight in the “Jimmy Connors” group, not before 21:30, with Lorenzo Musetti. The other match is between Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur.
3 presenceshas Jannik Sinner at the ATP Finals until this year's edition, reaching the final twice in 2023 and 2024
Before playing in Turin, Alcaraz and Sinner gave an interview together to CNN. “I already said it last summer, I see him more often than my mother,” the Spaniard confessed.
The Italian joined the conversation: “It's good and bad, but we're both very happy to see each other. When we train together, when we meet in the locker room, it's fantastic. It's something natural to get to know each other better, we talk about family, about life, about personal things.”
The Spaniard pointed out: “The word rivalry remains in the professional sphere. From a tennis point of view, we try to find each other's weak points on the court, but then when we greet each other at the net and leave the court, we are completely different. Sometimes we forget about this rivalry and we are simply human.”
Current number two Carlos Alcaraz assessed his year, which he hopes to end with a trophy in his hands: “I have to get good results here in Turin if I want to finish first. It was without a doubt my best year. In terms of level, consistency… I have seen a significant increase in terms of understanding certain situations, awareness of what I have to do and knowing what I need on the pitch.”
On the other hand, Jannik said: “It was a very different year for me. It was a year with very unusual situations. There is extra motivation and pressure here, which is a privilege. It would be fantastic to end the season with a win, with the big trophy, but we can't forget what the season was like. This has again been a wonderful year for both of us“.
The Italians are hoping for a final between the two, who have faced each other on five occasions this year in the ATP circuit, with the Iberian winning four times. In total, they have already collected 15 matches.
