I pleaded not guilty; I defended the company's interests – said MEP Daniel Obajtek on Wednesday after leaving the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, which was conducting an investigation into whether Orlen concluded contracts for detective services with the company he indicated.

– I listened to what I had to hear and generally I do not agree with the opinion of the prosecutor's office and the decision in this regard. (…) I will defend myself and claim my rights, said Obajtek after leaving the prosecutor's office, where a group of supporters were waiting for him. He was present, among others: national activist Robert Bąkiewicz.
– I pleaded not guilty. (…) I defended the interests of the concern – added Obajtek.
His representative, Adv. Dominik Hunek said that Obajtek refused to provide explanations at this stage. – Charges were brought against President Obajtek. At this stage of the proceedings, the president refused to provide explanations or answer questions, and we will become more active in this regard soon, very soon, as soon as we get acquainted with all the files – said the lawyer.
At the beginning of October this year, the European Parliament waived Obajtek's immunity as an MEP at the request of the Minister of Justice and the Prosecutor General.
It was about conclusion by Orlen of two contracts for detective services with a company indicated by Obajtek. According to the prosecutor's findings, this company had previously provided services in the field of personal protection of Obajtek and his property. (PAP)
