The mayor of Sector 6, Ciprian Ciucu, first vice-president of the PNL, said on Thursday night that he did not make a decision whether or not he would enter the Capital City Hall. The Liberal said that a survey would be ordered, to see if the Bucharest residents have appetite for reforms.

Ciucu was asked, in a show on B1 TV, if he will run for the position of general mayor of Bucharest. “I do not know yet, we will probably order a survey. It is a moment of compassion for me, a very important decision, I want to see if I go to apply for PMB I can really make a difference, I want to see what politics margin we will have, what stomach the Bucharest people have for reforms,” he said, quoted by News.ro.

The mayor claimed that if he cannot make reforms, he will choose not to run: “If I go there just to stay for nothing, thank you, no!”

Ciucu added that the discussion about a candidacy for the Capital City Hall is “very serious” and that it will probably make a decision in the next month.

“It is a strong, very serious discussion, I know it is this expectation from me to apply, I know that I enjoy support in Bucharest, I thank people for trusting, but we will order a survey and in the next two to three weeks-a month, when such a campaign will be prevented, I will not announce:

Asked if there could be a common candidate from a coalition, Ciucu replied: “whatever is possible.”

The meaning party announced, the previous one on Thursday, that Ana Ciceală is officially the candidate of the formation for the position of general mayor of the municipality of Bucharest.

So far, the date of the partial elections in Bucharest has not been established.

The elections for the General City Hall of the Capital must take place in the context in which Nicușor Dan took over the position of president of Romania. At this moment, Deputy Mayor Stelian Bujduveanu (PNL) took over the duties of mayor.

According to the law, the elections must be organized within 90 days from the vacancy of the position, but if this term is not respected there are no sanctions. At this moment, in the ruling coalition there are discussions to determine whether the elections for the Bucharest City Hall will be organized in the autumn of this year or in the spring of next year. For the elections to be organized, a government decision is required.

The parties in the ruling coalition did not announce their candidates for the position of general mayor. It is possible for USR and PNL to come up with a common candidate, according to HotNews sources, but this has not yet been clear. Neither gold has not announced the candidate for the General City Hall of the Capital for the moment.

Former head of the National Environmental Guard, Octavian Berceanu, will be the landmark in the elections to be summoned for the General City Hall of Bucharest. So far, he has announced his candidacy and activist Dan Trifu.
