In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, a court issued a verdict against a woman who opened a private nursing home in which a resident died.

The regional investigative department of the RF IC recalled that the individual entrepreneur has been working in the field of caring for the elderly and disabled since 2021. The unregistered establishment was located in the village of Selivanikha, Minusinsk region.

“In April 2025, a resident of Abakan entered into an agreement with her to provide paid social services to care for his 80-year-old mother, costing 35 thousand rubles per month of stay. Soon after entering the institution, the pensioner’s health condition sharply deteriorated, and she was hospitalized. Despite the medical assistance provided, the woman died in the hospital a few days later,” the investigation department explained.

It turned out that the owner of the institution did not find out information about the pensioner’s illnesses upon admission, did not provide her with the necessary care, treatment and safety during her stay in the institution, thereby creating a threat to her health.

The prosecutor's office clarified that the elderly woman suffered from age-related cognitive impairment and needed special care from specialists. The 63-year-old entrepreneur did not have the necessary competence to provide medical and psychological services to clients who pose a danger to themselves and others.

“Two weeks spent in a boarding house without taking vital medications, dietary nutrition and proper care led to the deterioration of the ward’s condition and the receipt of bodily injuries. The woman was hospitalized in serious condition at a clinical hospital, where she died,” the supervisory agency explained.

The entrepreneur was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet consumer health safety requirements). According to the court verdict, the woman was sentenced to a fine of 250 thousand rubles. The claim for 3 million rubles from the son of the deceased pensioner will be considered additionally.
