Even the most beloved frying pan loses its shine over time, becomes covered with soot, carbon deposits and seems unsuitable for cooking.
But don't rush to throw it away. Experienced housewives shared their “grandmother’s” method, which cleans any frying pan to a shine in 1 hour.
What you will need
- Wide basin (so that the frying pan fits completely)
- Silicate glue (stationery, 1 package – 100–150 g)
- Soda ash – 0.5 cups
- Liquid laundry soap – 0.5 cups
If the handle is wooden, remove it.
How to use
- Pour about 5 liters of water into a basin and put on fire.
- Add silicate glue, soda and soap, mix until smooth.
- When the water is almost boiling, lower the pan and simmer for about 1 hour. The water should be boiling slowly all this time.
- After such a “bath”, the carbon deposits will come off quickly and easily. On the outside it comes off in layers, and on the inside it can be easily removed with an iron sponge.
How to restore the non-stick layer
To prevent food from sticking, you just need to heat the salt.
- Place a 2–3 cm thick layer of salt on the bottom.
- Heat over medium heat for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- When the salt darkens, pour it out and, while the frying pan is warm, grease with a thin layer of vegetable oil.
The frying pan that seemed hopeless will now serve you faithfully again, without chemicals or extra costs.
