The publication notes that the German military is sounding the alarm due to the unpreparedness of German clinics for an emergency amid incidents with drones and potential threats.
According to Bild, 200 experts (in particular, military and medical personnel) participated in the preparation of the special report of the Bundeswehr. They pointed to gaps identified that should be addressed “as a matter of urgency.”
The document emphasizes that “in the worst case, approximately 1 thousand wounded soldiers per day are expected in the country,” not counting civilians. Experts expect “significant physical and psychosocial stress on health care workers and other patients.”
According to experts, the number of infectious diseases will increase sharply, medicines, blood supplies and dressings will become scarce. In addition, targeted enemy attacks on hospitals and doctors should be expected, the document says.
Experts say Germany's medical system is currently ill-prepared for this, with drug supply chains “too vulnerable” and communication channels uncoordinated. Pharmacies do not stock enough medicines. “No one knows which doctors are “available” and which are busy with “other things” (for example, on reserve),” the media quotes.
