But it was not difficult for the police to catch him: while they were moving towards the scene of the accident, on Lahrndorfer Street, they noticed a man trying to push his car off the roadway, the police reported on Sunday, according to OONachrichten.
The 38-year-old man from the Steyr-Land district had entered the opposite direction and hit the car driven by an 18-year-old woman. Instead of stopping, he kept going and the young woman called the police.
Near the scene of the crash, officers found the man trying hard to push his vehicle off the road, although the car was still functional, the reason for the gesture remains unclear, according to police.
No one was injured in the incident. The rapid blood alcohol test indicated a value of 2.68 per thousand, but the man refused to take biological samples to accurately determine the blood alcohol level.
His license was suspended on the spot and criminal charges were filed.
