Ugandan media reactions: “There will be many questions about this change”
A Ugandan journalist commented on Baba Alhassan's summons on social media, noting:
Well, well… look at this. Alhassan Baba, born in Ghana – yes, ours – has been called up by Uganda for the next friendlies.
The midfielder plays excellently at the giant Steaua București (no. FCSB) from Romaniamaking 21 appearances this season. There will be serious questions about this change, but Baba wants to play international football, especially as #AFCON2025 approaches.
While we look for foreign-born players, those born here look elsewhere.Do you agree with Baba's decision to play for Uganda?
– he noted it on his account of X.
The comment also drew mixed reactions from fans.
One fan's reaction: “No wonder Ghana always ignored him”
In the comments section, a fan responded to the journalist:
“Well, it's no surprise. Baba Alhassan has always been ignored by Ghana.
But I wonder, does he really have Ugandan origins?“
To which the journalist replied:
“That's exactly what I said, there are question marks about this change. I hope Uganda got the clarification from FIFA.
Maybe he has family in Uganda and we don't know. I wish him all the best, but he needs to make sure he has all the paperwork in order.”
