The earthquake in Myanmar was the largest in the country's hundred-year history. A state of emergency has been declared in the capital and major cities; there are interruptions in electricity, water, communications, transport and air services. The airport radar system has been destroyed.
Rescuers continue to search for victims. Russia, China, Taiwan, India and ASEAN have already promised assistance to Myanmar.
Due to earthquakes, ancient monasteries and pagodas fell into ruins. Of the most famous landmarks that have turned into ruins:
1. Me Nu Brick Monastery,
2. Ava Bridge,
3. Mahamuni Buddha Temple in Mandalay,
4. Sinbyume Pagoda in Mingun,
5. Royal Palace in Mandalay.
The death toll from the Myanmar earthquake has risen to 1,002. Another 2,376 people were injured. The numbers continue to rise.
