Florin Cernat (45 years old) will be the new sports director at FCSB, as stated by Mihai Stoica, the president of the Board of Directors of the Romanian champion.
Cernat will join those from FCSB after the match of FC Voluntari, the team where he is employed, with Corvinul Hunedoara. The match between the two, from League 2, will take place on November 8, Saturday.
So, Florin Cernat will officially become sports director at FCSB at the beginning of next week. He needed the acceptance of the Ilfov team, being under contract.
Florin Cernat, the new sports director at FCSB. “It comes after the Voluntari game with Corvinul”
“Cernat will come after the match that Voluntari will play against Corvinul. We understood each other. He had to get the acceptance, he got it. A man close to me. Even if he didn't play for Steaua/FCSB, he did something for the club.
He led Oțelul Galati on the road with Tg Mureș, where if Tg. Mureș beat was a champion. The surprise happened under his baton (no – in the last stage of the 2014-2015 season)”, said Mihai Stoica, on Prima Sport 1.
Throughout his career as a sports director, Cernat worked only at Voluntari. In 2018, he received this position at the Ilfov team. Throughout his playing career, the former midfielder was registered at Oțelul, Dinamo, Dinamo Kiev, Hajduk Split, Karabuk, Rizespor, Farul and Voluntari, from where he retired in 2018.
Florin Cernat is the son of Mihai Stoica. The two worked together at Galati, in the 90s, when Cernat played for Oțelul, and MM was in the management of the club.
What role will Cernat have at FCSB
Until Cernat's arrival, Ionuț Luțu held the position of acting sports director at FCSB, League 1 clubs being obliged to have a man in this position. Luțu held the position strictly because of the regulation.
Cernat will be Mihai Stoica's right-hand man and will have the role of finding players for FCSB abroad, as the club has repeatedly stated.
