Poles agree on one thing: relations with Ukraine are deteriorating

65.5 percent of surveyed Poles believe that Polish-Ukrainian relations will deteriorate in 2025 – according to the United Surveys by IBRiS survey for Wirtualna Polska published on Sunday. Negative opinions prevail among both the ruling coalition and the opposition voters.


According to the United Surveys by IBRiS survey for Wirtualna Polska, 49.1 percent respondents said that Polish-Ukrainian relations in 2025 “rather worsened”, and 16.4 percent – that they “have definitely gotten worse.” In total, this gives 65.5 percent. negative indications.
For 21.4 percent the situation has not changed, and 8.1 percent notices “rather improvement”. Only 0.5 percent estimates that relations have “definitely improved”. 4.5 percent respondents had no opinion or were unable to assess the changes.
Among the voters of the ruling coalition, as many as 63 percent indicated that relations had “rather deteriorated,” and another 2 percent – that they “have definitely gotten worse.” In total, 65 percent government supporters believe that relations with Ukraine are worse than a year ago. Only 5 percent notices improvement.
As WP notes, negative opinions also dominate among the opposition electorate – 44%. talks about “rather worsened” relationships, and 20 percent o “definitely worsened”. Only 12% notice improvement, while 5% no opinion.
Among other voters, the distribution of opinions is also pessimistic: 37 percent. indicates a “rather deteriorated” nature of the relationship, and as many as 34 percent to “definitely worse”. Only 7 percent thinks relationships have improved.
Compared to the 2024 survey, Poles' assessment of relations with Ukraine has clearly deteriorated. The percentage of respondents who believe that relations between countries are worse increased from 61.3%. up to 65.5 percent Importantly, there were more people who believed that the situation had “rather worsened” – from 43.6 percent to 49.1 percent
At the same time, the share of answers “I don't know/it's hard to say” decreased (from 8.9% to 4.5%). The percentage of people who noticed an improvement in their relationships remained low, although it increased slightly (from 7.9% to 8.6%).
The United Surveys by IBRiS survey for WP was conducted on October 10-13, 2025 using the CATI and CAWI methods on a nationwide, representative sample of 1,000 adult Poles. (PAP)
