The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, has officially confirmed that he will get married in the future. The head of state said that the moment is now “100% sure”, but it will be an intimate one, dedicated to the family.

Asked what he thought would happen sooner — his suspension from office or his marriage — Nicușor Dan joked, saying:
“This with the suspension from office. It is true that I try to respect all the obligations. You know that for any law that the Parliament approves, I have a deadline of 20 days to promulgate it. I strictly respected all these procedural matters, precisely so as not to have any kind of discussion.” said the president in an interview with the Cotidianul publication.
Regarding marriage, the head of state was clear: “Of course it's going to happen. This is going to happen 100 percent.”
Asked why he made this decision only now, at 55 years old, Nicușor Dan explained that it is a choice that will come in a period of balance:
“It's a personal question, so I'm going to answer with some caution. There were many… I think that this gesture should be taken in a period of silence and reflection in your life. During the entire professional period there were extremely many things that happened.”
The president has been in a relationship for over 20 years with Mirabela Grădinaru, with whom he has two children: a 9-year-old girl, Aheea, and a 3-year-old boy, Antim.
Nicușor Dan also said that, although he was proposed to marry during the presidential campaign, he categorically refused:
“I said no. It's a family matter. It's going to be a quiet time for the family.”
The president also emphasized on other occasions that the wedding will be a personal, discreet event, dedicated only to those close to him.
