Oana Țoiu talked with the US ambassador to NATO. “US support significantly increased Romania's ability to be an important actor”

Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu announced, on Friday, October 31, that she discussed with the US ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, about topics such as the security of the Black Sea region and the strategic partnerships between the two countries.

“I had an important discussion with Matthew G. Whitaker, the US Ambassador to NATO, an essential voice in the field of Euro-Atlantic security, about the next steps of the Romania-US partnership and our common goals. In the more than 20 years of collaboration as NATO allies, our countries have built trust. The support of the United States has significantly increased Romania's ability to be an important actor for the security of our region”transmitted Oana Țoiu.
The minister also stated that the two discussed the importance of Black Sea security, solid military and civil relations between people within NATO and strategic partnerships.
“Beyond any individual decision, the Ambassador and I share the same vision on the value that Romanians attach to the Romania-USA relationship, both for our recent history and for the present and our joint plans for the future”she added.
We remind you that Romania and the Allies were informed this week of the decision of the United States regarding the resizing of American troops in Europe, announces the Romanian Ministry of National Defense.
Subsequently, Matthew Whitaker conveyed on Wednesday, October 29, that the United States remains committed to Romania, “as a trusted ally in NATO, a vital strategic partner and an important force for European security.”
