This Friday, police operations will begin on roads throughout Poland in connection with trips during the All Saints' Day period. According to experts, there may be an accumulation of trips to cemeteries. – All Saints' Day is a time when there is increased traffic on the roads. This may be especially the case this year, because November 1 falls on a Saturday, and the trips will most likely accumulate on Friday – noted Krupiński from ITS.

He also noted that, according to police statistics, Friday is the day on which the most road accidents and the most injuries are recorded, as shown by the report of the Road Traffic Office of the Police Headquarters on road accidents in Poland in 2024.

Data from the Police Headquarters show that last year on Fridays there were 3,475 accidents (16.1%), in which 294 people (15.5%) were killed and 3,954 people (16%) were injured. It was also on Fridays that the highest number of road accidents involving children under 14 occurred (292). Also on this day of the week, the highest number of children died (16) and injured (318).

In turn, the safest day in terms of the number of road accidents last year was Sunday, when there were 2,239 accidents (10.4%), in which 2,780 people (11.2%) were injured. Unfortunately, there were some casualties – 269 people (14.2%) died.

Statistics also show that the most accidents involving pedestrians and the most tragic consequences were recorded in the autumn and winter months, i.e. in January, November and December. In 550 accidents that occurred in November last year, 40 people died and 527 were injured. – In the autumn months, darkness falls earlier, which is not beneficial, especially for pedestrian road users who, after dark, outside built-up areas, unless they wear reflectors, are particularly exposed to the risk of losing their health and life – said Krupiński.

According to police data, last year during All Saints' Day there were 161 road accidents in which 11 people died and 19 were injured. (PAP)
