US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he had allowed South Korea. for the construction of nuclear-powered submarines. A day earlier, South Korean President Li Jae Mjung appealed to him about this. Trump announced that the ships would be built at a shipyard in Philadelphia.

Trump announced his decision in a post on his Truth Social social media platform about the trade agreement concluded on Tuesday with South Korea.
“Our Military Alliance is stronger than ever, and that's why I've approved the construction of a nuclear-powered submarine.rather than the old-fashioned and much less maneuverable diesel submarines they have now. A wonderful journey with a wonderful Prime Minister!” – Trump wrote, confusing the function of President Li Jae Mjung. In the next entry, he added that the ship would be built at the shipyard in Philadelphia.
In his speech opening Tuesday's talks with the American delegation, the South Korean president made a direct appeal to Trump consent to deliver fuel to planned South Korean nuclear-powered submarineswhich, in his opinion, will “significantly reduce the burden on American forces” and make it easier to track Chinese and North Korean ships.
So far volonly six countries have such ships: USA, Russia, Great Britain, France, China and India. Australia is also planning to acquire them.
So far, Seoul's obstacle to building these ships has been Washington's refusal to agree to supply Korea with enriched uranium needed to fuel the reactors.
As part of the terms of the trade deal agreed between the two countries on Tuesday, South Korean authorities pledged to invest $350 billion in the United Statesof which $200 billion in cash and USD 150 billion as part of cooperation in the shipbuilding sector. In Wednesday's post, Trump presented it as payment for lowering tariffs on Korean products. He added that Seoul agreed to purchase huge amounts of American oil and gas, and private investments by Korean companies in the US will exceed USD 600 billion.
