The son of Nikita Mikhalkov sued the Kinomax cinema chain for 5.6 million rubles for showing the film Mister Knockout without a paid permit.
According to Mash, the founder-general director of the Kinodom company, also known as Artyom Mikhalkov, together with Telekompaniya JSC filed a claim in the arbitration court against Kinomax. The reason for the fuss is that the defendant showed the film “Mr. Knockout” publicly, but did not pay for the license. The court sided with the plaintiffs, and now Kinomax is stuck with 4.4 million debts and a 1.2 million ruble fine. Mikhalkov’s side also confirmed this information to us.
The director of the film is Mikhalkov Jr. The film about the Soviet boxer Valeria Popenchenko was released in 2022. The film grossed $3.9 million.
