Three people were detained for 24 hours, Wednesday evening, by the prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Court of Appeal following the searches that took place in the criminal file opened after the explosion in the block of flats on Vicina Street in the Rahova district of Bucharest, say judicial sources cited by Euronews Romania, G4Media.ro and the News.ro press agency.

Officially, until the time of publication of this news, the Bucharest Court of Appeal Package has not announced data about the detained persons and what was their involvement.

According to these sources among the investigators, an employee of the Distrigaz company and two from a private company (Amproperty Construct SRL from Bucharest) were detained for 24 hours. Regarding the latter, the investigators suspect that they checked the gas network after the arrival of Distrigaz.

G4Media states that the three people detained are accused of aggravated destruction and that prosecutors will seek their pretrial detention. The same judicial sources mention that the investigators will also ask for a ban on the activity of Amproperty Construct SRL.

The searches in the Rahova explosion file. 6 people, taken to hearings

On Wednesday morning, the Romanian Police, under the coordination of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Court of Appeal, carried out eight searches of natural and legal persons, in the criminal file drawn up following the explosion in Rahova.

“Of the eight searches, four are carried out in Bucharest, two in Ilfov and one search each in Prahova and Teleorman counties,” the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police (IGPR) said in a press release.

“The activities are aimed at the lifting of documents and storage units,” said the police.

After the searches, six people were to be taken to the headquarters of the Prosecutor's Office next to the Bucharest Court of Appeal, for further investigations. The IGPR did not provide any other details.

According to Euronews Romania, the prosecutors went to the Distrigaz headquarters, but also to the homes of the company's employees who arrived in the field, and also to the company called by the tenants to do the gas inspection in the Rahova block.

The head of the police investigating the case said that the epicenter of the explosion and the path of the gases had been determined, and now the investigators are waiting for the Insemex report to draw the first conclusions.

Following the explosion, which resulted in the death of three people and the injury of 15 others, the Romanian Police and the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Court of Appeal carried out several activities, within the framework of the criminal case, namely the on-site investigation and the questioning of some people.

The file opened following the explosion in the block of flats in the Rahova district concerns the crime of culpable destruction that resulted in a disaster, and so far the investigations have been carried out in rem.
