The elections for the capital's mayor's office: How much will the members of the electoral commissions be paid for the election on December 7 / Pilot project for visually impaired voters

The government wants to approve on Thursday by emergency ordinance some measures and expenses for the organization of the elections for the general mayor of the municipality of Bucharest, for the president of the Buzău County Council and for the mayors of 12 other localities, which will take place on Sunday, December 7. The allowances for the staff in the electoral offices and offices and for those who provide technical support will be between 128 lei/day and 225 lei per day.
The draft emergency ordinance proposes the following allowances:
- a) 225 lei per day of activity for the presidents of the county electoral offices, of the electoral offices and of the constituency electoral offices, for their deputies, as well as for the other members of these electoral offices;
- b) 128 lei per day of activity for computer scientists;
- c) 150 lei per day of activity for the auxiliary technical staff of the county electoral offices, electoral offices and constituency electoral offices, as well as for their statisticians;
- d) 248 lei per day of activity for the presidents of the electoral offices of the polling stations, their deputies and computer operators;
- e) 180 lei per day of activity for members of the electoral offices of the polling stations, other than those provided for in letter d).
The act provides that a protocol allowance of 35 lei per person will be granted for each day of activity for members of electoral offices and offices, computer operators, auxiliary technical staff, statisticians, computer scientists, as well as for the staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs involved in the electoral process.
Also, the MAI staff included in the plans of measures specific to the areas of order and public safety to ensure the security of the operations and activities carried out for the good organization and conduct of the electoral process, approved at the level of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Romanian Police, the General Directorate of Police of the Municipality of Bucharest and the county police inspectorates, will benefit from an allowance of 188 lei per day of activity.
Pilot project in at least 6 polling stations in Bucharest
The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) can organize and implement a pilot project in at least 6 polling stations in the city of Bucharest with a view to the independent exercise of the right to vote by voters with visual disabilities, respectively the increase
access to the electoral process of this category of voters.
The expenses for the organization and implementation of the pilot project are borne from the state budget, through the budget of the Permanent Electoral Authority, within the limits of the amounts approved by the Government's decision regarding the establishment of the expenses necessary for the preparation and holding in good conditions of the partial local elections of December 7, 2025.
The government will later establish by decision the total amount of expenses necessary for the preparation and organization of the elections of December 7, 2025.
The government approved on Thursday that the elections for the general mayor of the city of Bucharest, for the president of the Buzău County Council and for the mayors of 12 other localities will take place on Sunday, December 7, 2025. The candidacies for the position of general mayor of the capital and for the president of the Buzău County Council will be able to be submitted between November 12-17, according to the electoral calendar.
