Social Insurance Fund with a record budget in 2026. Higher pensions and new benefits


According to ZUS, the largest part of the Fund's expenses – as much as PLN 444 billion – they will absorb pensions and annuities. That's about 89 percent. the total budget of the Social Insurance Fund. The plan shows that in 2026 the number of retirees and disability pensioners will increase will increase by 123,000 people compared to 2025, and the average benefit will increase to approximately PLN 4,320 per month.
The remaining benefits were allocated over PLN 45 billion. This amount includes, among others: sickness benefits (PLN 22.1 billion) and maternity benefits (PLN 11.3 billion). In turn, more than PLN 600 million.
The Ministry of Family and Social Policy emphasizes that the goal is to maintain continuity of payments and financial stability of the pension systemwhile adjusting the amount of benefits to the rising costs of living and the economic situation of the country.

FUS revenues will exceed PLN 508 billion
In 2026, Social Insurance Fund revenues are expected to amount to PLN 508.9 billionof which nearly 80 percent will come from social security contributions. The rest is subsidy from the state budget – PLN 90.8 billion and contributions from open pension funds (OFE) as part of the so-called safety slider – PLN 11.7 billion.
According to the justification for the financial plan, such high revenues from contributions are the result stable situation on the labor marketlow unemployment and rising wages. Additionally, the government subsidy is intended to guarantee full coverage of all FUS liabilities.
“Thanks to the combination of stable contribution revenues and support from the state budget, the social security system will remain fully financially efficient in 2026,” we read in the justification for the project.

New tasks and higher benefits in 2026
The FUS financial plan also provides for implementation new social taskswhich are intended to improve the financial situation of citizens and increase the fairness of the system.
One of the key points is increase in the funeral allowance to PLN 7,000which is intended to reflect the increase in costs associated with organizing burials in recent years.
The second important change will be recalculation of pensions of people who switched to the June benefit in 2009-2019. So far, this group of retirees received slightly lower benefits due to the indexation rules in force at that time.
The ministry emphasizes that the new solutions have “restore a sense of equality and justice in the pension system”, and their implementation is planned for the second half of 2026.
Despite rising expenses, the government assures that FUS remains in good financial condition.
