A fragile truce. Tension between Hamas and Israel

Netanyahu wanted to attack Hamas earlier Tuesday in response to Hamas' manipulation of the release of hostage bodies, but American officials dissuaded him, Israeli television Channel 12 reported.

On Sunday, October 19, Israel carried out a series of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip following an attack it deemed an attack by Hamas and a violation of the ceasefire. 45 Palestinians and two Israelis were killed.
