“Give Life” co-founder Oana Gheorghiu was proposed by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan for the position of Deputy Prime Minister, the Government announced. The proposal goes further to the president Nicușor Dan, who must sign the appointment decree in the next period.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan sent the Presidential Administration the proposal to fill the vacant post of Deputy Prime Minister, left vacant after the resignation of Dragoș Anastasiu.
“This proposal is made by Mrs. Oana Gheorghiu, to whom Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan thanks also in this way for her willingness to participate in the absolutely necessary reforms that Romania needs in this period”, the Government sent.
Aged 56, Oana Gheorghiu is a graduate of the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, class of 1994, specializing in economic management. Co-founder and co-president (since February 2025, previously vice-president) of the Association Dăruiește Viață, Oana Gheorghiu has been involved for more than a decade in the development of medical infrastructure projects and in advocacy campaigns that have changed the way society looks at the state's responsibility in health, reports the Government.
“He coordinated the raising of over 100 million euros through donations and private sponsorships, together with over 500,000 donors and 10,000 companies. The most important achievement is the Hospital for Children with Cancer and other serious diseases, built from scratch at Marie Curie (12,000 sqm, 9 floors, over 140 beds), the first project of its kind in Romania.
Oana Gheorghiu's experience in projects that produced fundamental changes in Romanian society is now being put to the service of even broader projects to reform Romania, at a time when our country needs all the energies to lay the foundations of a state that functions much better for the benefit of the citizens”, the Government representatives also conveyed.
