“Small step” Peskov commented on the results of Dmitriev’s visit to the USA

“Informal contacts” between the aggressor country Russia and the United States are “a very important component of the dialogue.” The press secretary of the illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, stated this on October 27, TASS propagandists write.

Since October 24, Putin’s special representative for investment and economic cooperation, Kirill Dmitriev (known as Putin’s negotiator), has been visiting the United States. His visit comes against the backdrop of the cancellation of the summit between American President Donald Trump and Putin in Hungary and after the introduction of US sanctions against the largest Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil.

“Informal contacts in general are a very important component of the dialogue, especially given the fact that the United States has taken a number of unfriendly steps towards the Russian Federation. Therefore, they are important,” said the Kremlin head’s speaker.

Putin called Dmitriev’s attempts to convey to Washington Putin’s position about his reluctance to stop aggression in Ukraine “a small step on a long, long road.”

Answering a clarifying question about whether Dmitriev saw Putin after returning from the United States, Peskov noted that there was no meeting, but Dmitriev could report on the situation by phone.
