US President Donald Trump and the President of China are to meet as part of the American leader's Asian tour, a meeting in which the settlement of trade disputes between the two states is to be discussed.
Chinese and American negotiators announced that they had reached a framework for an agreement on tariffs and other issues, ahead of the meeting to be held between the two leaders, reports The New York Times.
“We are moving forward on the final details of the agreement that the leaders can review and decide whether they want to conclude it,” said Jamieson Greer, the United States trade representative, in Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian capital.
He also said the two sides had discussed another delay in the implementation of mutual tariffs announced this year.
China's top negotiator Li Chenggang characterized the Sino-US talks as “sincere and in-depth discussions” on the trade deal, adding that the two sides had reached a “preliminary consensus”.
