Antonio Conte (56 years old), the technician of the champion Napoli, reacted after what his team beat Inter 3-1 thanks to the goals scored by De Bruyne (who was injured after the penalty), McTominay and Anguissa. For the “nerazzurri”, the penalty converted by Calhanoglu was not enough.
At the end of the game, Antonio Conte made several statements, including the topic of the horrendous sideline insults as a result of the conflict between him and two of the “nerazzurri” players, Denzel Dumfries and captain Lautaro Martinez.
“We faced a very strong team, Inter's team is far above the others. We won despite all the difficulties encountered so far. Even today we missed players like Hojlund, Lobotka and Rrahmani. It's not a very lucky year, maybe someone brought us bad luck,” Conte began his speech at the end of the match in which his team climbed to first place in Serie A.
The technician then added, “Inter came here to kill us from a sporting point of view, but we had no intention of dying. It was a brave game, an excellent performance”he added, quoted by gianlucadimarzio.com.
How Conte commented on the scandal with Inter's players
In the 61st minute of the contest, shortly after Hakan Calhanoglu brought Inter back into the game with a spot-kick, tempers flared. Everything started from the protests of Napoli's technician. He directly reproached Dumfries for a harsh entrance that the Dutchman had during the match.
The defender reacted with some gestures, after which Lautaro Martinez intervened, the Inter captain having an extremely heated dialogue with his former coach. Immediately, several players from the two teams appeared in the Napoli bench area, trying to calm the spirits,

About the altercation with Lautaro, Conte spoke at the conference: “When you play such matches, such things can happen. What I want to emphasize are the years I spent at Inter, where I brought the team back to the top, winning the title and stopping Juventus' streak of 9 consecutive championships. And you know very well what Juve means to me.”
“Lautaro is a great player, but from a human point of view I didn't get to know him well. I wish him success and everything is fine,” he added.
Conte also commented on the statements of Inter's president, Marotta, who harshly criticized the refereeing, considering that the penalty dictated at the start of the game influenced the final result.
“The difference between Napoli and the other teams is that they send their top managers to talk. A big team has to understand why they lost. This creates alibis for the players and the whole environment. I think it's totally damaging. As a coach, I would never have allowed a manager of mine to do that.”
Antonio Conte then concluded: “In this way, I also undermined the manager. I never asked my directors to play the role of father or to defend the club ex officio, but that's okay.”
