Incredible scenes in Montenegro: they entered the field with clubs
Sutjeska Niksic fans created chaos at the match between Internacional Podgorica and Berane, from the second echelon of Montenegrin football.
Given that the match was played in Niksic, at the Celik Stadium, the supporters of the Berane team faced the fans of the Sutjeska team, the local team, one of the most famous in Montenegro.
It all started with disputes on social networks, but then the “Vojvode” (the nickname of the ultras of the Sutjeska team) took advantage of the fact that the match was being played in their city, attacking the people from Berane with sticks.
Internacional Podgorica does not play its home games in the capital, but in Niksic, which led to this situation.
Chaos broke out before the start of the second half when Sutjeska's ultras stormed the pitch and headed towards the Berane supporters' section. The visitors, of course, did not retreat, and the field was quickly covered with torches.
The police had to intervene and the match was stopped for half an hour until the situation calmed down. According to information circulating on social media, a large part of the group of supporters from Berane was not in the stadium when the altercation broke out, so only about ten fans confronted those from Niksic.
The match was later restarted and ended goalless and the hooligans who caused the incidents are still being sought.
The police are intensively looking for the perpetrators and say that the reason for the conflict is a kind of revenge by Sutjeska's fans for an attack that took place last year in Berane.
