Victorious today with Borussia Monchengladbach, 3-0, Bayern Munich reached 13 consecutive victories this beginning of the season. The Bavarians thus equaled the best start in the history of the top championships: only AC Milan had 13 successes in a row in the 1992/1993 season.
Under the command of Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich are crushing everything that comes their way in this start of the championship. The German champions have won their first 13 games of the new season, starting with the German Supercup, 2-1 against Stuttgart on August 16, culminating with today's 3-0 victory over Monchengladbach in the 8th round of the Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich beats everything: the best start to the season in the history of the top championships
With 13 wins in a row, Bayern equaled the best ever start to a season by a team in Europe's top leagues. Only AC Milan in the 1992/1993 season had managed to do something like that, writes L'Equipe.
In this ranking, there are 3 teams with 11 consecutive victories at the start: Borussia Dortmund in the 2015/2016 season, Tottenham in the 1960/1961 season, Real Madrid in 1961/1962 and 1968/1969.
Bayern have not only won all their matches so far, but they have done so in convincing fashion. In 8 league games, Kompany's side scored 30 times and conceded just 4 goals; in the Champions League, the goal difference after 3 stages is 12:2. Practical, an average of almost 4 goals scored per match.
Bayern have a cup match coming up on October 29 in Koln. A victory there and the Bavarians would tick off something unprecedented in the history of European football!
