The number of drunken traffic accidents in the Vologda region decreased by 49% during the month of prohibition. And attendance at the largest fitness club in the regional center increased by 79%. It seems to be working.
The gym staff told us that in the first quarter of 2025, attendance increased by 39k people (that’s 79%). For comparison, in 2024 this figure was at 22k people. In addition, the number of participants in city running marathons increased by 20%. The traffic police noted that for the first time in one quarter, no one died in drunken traffic accidents. The number of such accidents on weekdays decreased by 33%, with injuries by 52%. On weekends, the statistics remained the same, because alcohol is sold as usual.
Meanwhile, people are not giving up on vacation and have found a new loophole – holes in fences (no, not these). Through them they sell everything good, but strictly for cash. There is beer, vodka and even “bomik” (95% alcohol) for 70 rubles. The price tag is adequate. A local businessman, who has grocery stores next door, has taken up such illegal retail, and they follow the law there.
Now you have to overpay only in alcohol taxis and liqueurs, which are disguised as bars.
