Israel rejects the ICJ's recommendation. It will not support the aid agency UNRWA

The ICJ, which is the UN's highest court, issued a non-binding advisory opinion on Wednesday, stressing that Israel has an obligation to support aid efforts in the Gaza Strip, led by the UN and its entities, including the Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

Israel has long accused UNRWA of bias and claims that many of its employees collaborated with the terrorist Hamas. However, the ICJ ruled that the authorities in Jerusalem did not provide sufficient evidence for this. Israel had previously banned UNRWA from operating in Israel, which also hampered the agency's operations in the Gaza Strip.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem categorically rejected the ICJ's findings and emphasized that “Israel fully complies with its obligations under international law.”
