Marcus Rashford (27 years old) could return to Manchester United next summer, if the Portuguese coach Reuben Amorim (40) will be leaving the club by then. At least that's what the former second of the “red devils”, Rene Meulensteen (61 years old), claims.
The English striker left the club where he grew up in the summer, being loaned to Barcelona, after being excluded from the squad by Ruben Amorim in the preseason, along with other players who were no longer in the coach's plans.
Marcus Rashford, reborn under Hansi Flick
The move to Barcelona seems to have completely changed the trajectory of his career. In just 11 official matches for the Catalans, Rashford managed 3 goals and 5 assists.
The good form brought him back to the attention of the England coach, and the German coach used him in several offensive positions: “Rashford can play both as a number 9 and as an 11. He is in great shape and offers many solutions to the team,” said Flick.

What Rene Meulensteen says about his future
The former assistant manager of Sir Alex Ferguson (83 years old), Rene Meulensteen, explained that a return to Old Trafford is difficult to imagine as long as Ruben Amorim remains on the bench:
“Marcus coming back to United? Honestly, I don't think it's going to happen while Amorim is there. I think something happened between themand the move was forced. Maybe Barcelona will also want to keep him because Marcus is still young and fits in well there,” according to goal.com.
Rashford, on the reasons for leaving: “I was in an unstable environment”
In an interview with ITV Sport, Rashford admitted that his years at Manchester United were marked by a lack of stability:
“I was in an inconsistent environment for a very long time. It's hard to be constant when everything is changing around you. I've had a lot of changes at the club, but I have to look forward and become the best version of myself.”
Possible definitive transfer to Barcelona
Barcelona has the option to permanently buy Marcus Rashford at the end of the season for approximately 35 million euros, and according to sources in Spain, the Catalan club is seriously considering this option.
Rene Meulensteen was part of Manchester United's staff in the periods 2001–2006 (second team coach) and 2007–2013 in the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
