Violent incidents ahead of Dennis Man's Champions League game. 180 fans detained by the police

A day before the PSV – Napoli duel, an important match in the Champions League group, the city of Eindhoven was the scene of serious public order disturbances. Around 180 Neapolitan supporters were detained by law enforcement after the atmosphere became increasingly tense in the city centre.

On Monday evening, hundreds of Italian supporters gathered on the street “Fuutlaan” near the center of Eindhoven, ignoring police requests to leave the area.

The Dutch police intervened in force, in the context of altercations and demonstrations that threatened to get out of control. The situation quickly degenerated, and the authorities acted preemptively to avoid possible violence on the day of the match.

The clash between PSV and Napoli promises to be fiery, not only on the field, but also off it, with the fans of both teams being the center of attention before the starting whistle.

Over 180 Italian supporters detained by police

According to local police, more than 180 people were detained for violating municipal regulations on public gatherings. Those arrested were transported by buses to the police station on Mathildelaan, where they were identified and questioned. Some of them did not have tickets for Tuesday night's game, raising further concerns about possible incidents.

Four PSV supporters were also detained at another location in the city, but police stressed that there were no direct clashes between the two camps.

“We wanted to prevent the situation from escalating. There was no direct confrontation between the supporters' groups“, said a police spokeswoman.

Dennis Man's side are 27th in their Champions League group with just one point from the first two legs, while Napoli are 19th with 3 points.
