Baltic Pipe and windmills under a military umbrella. New sea protection rules coming soon

The bill assumes the creation of a legal basis for conducting patrolling, deterring and monitoring activities outside the country. It also expands the possibilities of protecting critical infrastructure, such as the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline, drilling platforms and wind farms..

The deputy head of the Ministry of National Defence, Paweł Zalewski, emphasized during the June presentation of the project's assumptions that the new regulations will enable, among others, using the Navy in a manner similar to the activities currently carried out by Border Guard ships in territorial waters and in the Polish economic zone in the Baltic Sea. Additionally the project will facilitate the participation of the Polish armed forces in NATO operations, such as Baltic Sentry, which are aimed at increasing security in the region.
