The statements of Edward Iordănescu (47 years old), the coach of the Legia Warsaw team, were widely analyzed in the Polish press, after the Romanian technician clarified the speculations regarding a possible return to the Romanian national team.

Between 2022 and 2024, Edward Iordănescu led the Romanian national team in 28 matches, qualifying them for the European Championship in 2024. The national team won the group and was eliminated in the round of 16 by the Netherlands, score 0-3.

Polish press, clear signal: “Iordănescu sent a message to the Romanians. He will not change his mind”

The website legia.net, close to the club from the capital of Poland, wrote that the Romanian technician put an end to any speculation regarding a return to Romanian football:

“It looks like the decision has been made and there's no going back.”

The Polish press highlighted the Romanian's statements about his daily routine and involvement with the team:

“I work every day from seven in the morning until seven in the evening, and our training base is 60 kilometers away. I am loyal to the Legia and completely dedicated to this project,” said Iordănescu, according to Polish journalists.

Respect for FRF and Mircea Lucescu

Legia.net and sportowefakty.wp.pl also noted Iordănescu's balanced and respectful tone towards the Romanian Football Federation and the current national team:

The federation supported me completely, and now I am sure that Mircea Lucescu has the same confidence and stability to work quietly. I will always stay in touch with the people in the federation.”

Even so, Polish media point out that club officials are still confident in his project and appreciate his professionalism.

“Iordănescu is a disciplined, loyal and extremely hard-working coach. His statements confirmed that Legia remains the absolute priority”, concludes the Polish press.
