Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi (25) has announced to the club that he will leave at the end of this season when his contract expires.
The England international had reached an agreement with Liverpool this summer, but the transfer fell through at the last minute after the Eagles blocked the move, citing a lack of a replacement.
More precisely, Crystal Palace had reached an agreement with Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, but his transfer did not materialize because the French defender did not pass the medical examination.

Two months later, Guehi informed Crystal Palace management that he would be leaving at the end of the season, when his contract also expired.
The London club's manager, Oliver Glasner, said he would have liked more than anything to keep him, but the player has made the decision not to continue at Palace: “We wanted Guehi to stay, but he has something else in mind.”

The 25-year-old defender remains a target for Liverpool but overseas publications have mentioned interest from both Real Madrid and Bayern.
Guehi has been at Crystal Palace since the summer of 2021 and has since made 167 appearances, nine goals and five assists.
He also captained the team to their biggest success, winning their first ever FA Cup trophy in May last season after a 1-0 win over Manchester City.
He also helped win the FA Super Cup against Liverpool in August, 3-2 on penalties after 2-2 in regular time.
Marc Guehi was also instrumental in Palace's Premier League victory over Liverpool two legs ago. The English defender made the decisive pass to Eddie Nketiah for the winning goal in the 90th+7th minute, the scoreboard showing 2-1 in favor of the Londoners.
