The state and business should jointly return veterans to industrial regions: in M…

Tetyana Petruk, director of sustainable development and interaction with personnel of the Metinvest group, spoke about the main problems during the restoration of the industry during “Dialogues with NV. Business and the new reality”.
✅ Personnel shortage in industrial regions. In Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih and Kamiansk there is a labor shortage. Currently, the company has about 4,000 vacancies.
✅ Shortage of qualified personnel. There are no specialists with the necessary skills on the market, so enterprises independently train personnel and shorten training programs – from 6-9 months, as it was before, now training takes only 2-4 months.
✅ The outflow of youth. Due to the new draft law, which allows men to travel abroad, more than 200 employees aged 18-22 left the company in September alone. This jeopardized the “First Workplace” and “Young Specialist” programs launched by Metinvest.
✅ The need to return Ukrainian students. For this, Metinvest launched an initiative for students studying abroad, organizing internships for them at enterprises in Great Britain and Ukraine.
✅ The need for integration of veterans. The company is creating an ecosystem to attract veterans: training, housing, decent pay and workplace support.
✅ Focus on women in male occupations. Already 30% of the company's staff are women — they work as crane operators, electricians, and even in quarries. This helps to compensate for the shortage of personnel, because every fifth employee is currently serving in the Armed Forces.
❗️ Metinvest is confident that the reconstruction of Ukraine will begin with the restoration of industry, so joint programs of the state and business are already needed so that veterans, immigrants and young people can work and live in industrial regions.
