According to the club, the Spanish international will continue to meet fans and take photos with them, but the autograph on the shirt, ball or photo will come at a price. The fundamental principle of the market – the lower the supply, the higher the value – will be applied here as well, which explains why this change is introduced in the relationship with fans.
The marketing team representing Yamal has a clear plan. Even on the site, his signature items will not be mass-available. The idea is to keep the number of signed autographs to a minimum to increase their exclusivity and, by implication, their price.
With this move, Yamal has copied LeBron James and Leo Messi, who supplement their budget in a similar way.
Although he recently turned 18, Lamine Yamal is one of the most popular footballers in the world. Currently valued at around €230 million, Yamal has already won 4 trophies in a Barcelona shirt, two La Liga titles, a Spanish Cup and a Spanish Super Cup.
