Donald Trump posthumously honored Charlie Kirk. “Highest distinction”

“We are here today to honor and remember a fearless freedom fighter, a beloved leader who motivated another generation like no one before,” Trump said during the ceremony. Kirk's widow, Erika, who took over the reins of the Turning Point USA (TPUSA) organization after her husband, received the medal from the president. “Mr. President, I can say with certainty that you gave him the best birthday present he could have ever dreamed of,” Kirk's widow said to Trump.

The activist, who would have celebrated his 32nd birthday on October 14, was shot on September 10 in front of crowds during a debate at Utah Valley University. He died after being taken to hospital. Kirk is the first person Trump has bestowed the honor on since the beginning of his second term.
— Since Charlie's killing, we have seen exactly why our country so desperately needed his example. “We are seeing legions of far-left radicals resort to desperate acts of violence and terror because they know that their ideas and arguments convince no one,” Trump said in his speech.
On September 16, the Utah State Attorney's Office filed seven charges against 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, accused of Kirk's murder. If the man is convicted, investigators will seek the death penalty. The perpetrator's text messages were also published, saying that he killed Kirk because he was “fed up with his hatred.”
