In Norilsk, builders began assembling a clinic building

In the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the installation of a new clinic building has begun. It is being built in the Norilsk region of Talnakh. The decision of the Norilsk Nickel design office specialists will allow the building to be built as quickly as possible, despite the weather conditions.

Active construction began in July 2024. Contractors installed 750 bored piles into the base of the future building and concreted the monolithic grillage. In total, two and a half thousand cubic meters of concrete were required for these purposes.

“We calculated the load-bearing capacity and determined the number and depth of the piles. Within this construction site there were grillages from previously located houses, which the company completely dismantled with cutting down the piles, and the clinic building is being built on new piles,” said Vladimir Erokhin, head of the organization and construction control department of the project office for the implementation of comprehensive measures for the development of Norilsk, Krasnoyarsk representative office of Norilsk Nickel.

Now the reinforced concrete frame of the future clinic is being installed. You can already see him above the fence. Construction workers are installing a second tower crane to begin erecting structures. Precast concrete reduces labor costs during the work process, which is not easy to achieve in the case of monolithic structures. This is both more economically profitable and faster in time.

“Structurally, there is only one material – reinforced concrete, but in the conditions of a construction site, given our climate, the construction of monolithic structures is quite labor-intensive and requires special measures in order for the concrete to gain strength before it freezes; it has to be heated. If we use prefabricated reinforced concrete, the process is much more technologically advanced: the number of workers is smaller, and the speed of completing tasks increases,” explained Vladimir Erokhin.

The six-story buildings that Norilsk Nickel built and handed over to the city this year (23 Pavlova Street and 10 Pushkina Street) used a different technology: a metal frame and a frame-cladding system of wall panels. In the case of the clinic, prefabricated reinforced concrete columns, floor slabs and panels were chosen.

“The materials were manufactured at the Krasnoyarsk plant of reinforced concrete and metal structures. They were delivered to Norilsk and are at the storage site. The existing volume will be enough for four floors, just before the start of the next summer navigation. Considering the fairly large amount of work, the frame will be completely installed by the middle or third quarter of next year. At the same time, columns will be mounted and laid, along with a crossbar. Along the crossbars there are floor slabs and wall panels, and this will continue from floor to floor. The work that was carried out before was not very noticeable to the outside eye, but quite labor-intensive. Especially the construction of a pile foundation, and when the building itself is already growing, it is visible to the naked eye that certain progress has been made. At the same time, about 30 percent of the construction cost falls on pile foundations,” said Vladimir Erokhin.

Let us remind you that the clinic for 1000 visits per shift is the object of a comprehensive plan for the socio-economic development of Norilsk, which is being implemented by Norilsk Nickel. It is planned to be commissioned in 2028. The building will be six floors, with a seventh technical floor where engineering equipment will be located. Norilsk Nickel will also purchase machinery and equipment; the list of necessary equipment has already been agreed upon with the Ministry of Health of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

The medical facility will be multidisciplinary. There will be adult and children's departments, dentistry, antenatal clinic, emergency room, radiology department and others.

The progress of construction is closely monitored not only by Norilsk residents, but also by the participants of the quadripartite agreement (the Ministry of the Far East and the Arctic, the government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the city leadership) and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, on whose initiative work began on a comprehensive plan for the socio-economic development of Norilsk – 2035.
