Lionel Messi (38 years old), the Argentine star of Inter Miami has officially announced the launch of the Messi Cup, an international competition for U16 teams, which will take place in Miami (USA), between 9 and 14 December 2025.

The tournament, organized by its production company 525 Rosario, aims to become a global landmark in juvenile football and bring together some of the most prestigious academies in the world.

Which teams will participate in the first edition

At the first edition of the competition, eight elite clubs will take part:

Inter Miami, FC Barcelona, ​​Manchester City, River Plate, Inter Milan, Newly's Old Boys, Atletico de Madrid and Chelsea.

The teams will be divided into two groups of four bands, to play 18 matches on various stadiums in the Miami area, including Chase Stadium, Inter Miami arena.

After the group phase, the play-offs and the final will take place, which will designate the first winner of the trophy.
