Germany is buying hundreds of armored vehicles. They will spend billions of euros on them


According to Reuters, which obtained documents from the German Ministry of Finance, for the government order for armored vehicles for the Bundeswehr German plans to spend approximately EUR 7 billioni.e. almost PLN 30 billion.
The order is still awaiting formal approval by the German parliament's budget committee, which is expected to take place in the coming days.
This project is part of a broader strategy to modernize the Bundeswehrwhich has been increasing its defense spending for several years in response to changing geopolitical challenges.
Germany is buying armored vehicles
The largest part of the German investment includes a framework agreement with the American defense group General Dynamics. As part of it, Germany will order 274 reconnaissance vehicles with a total value of approximately EUR 3.5 billionand their first deliveries are planned for 2028. The contract also provides for the option to purchase an additional 82 vehicles, which may increase the value of the order to EUR 4.6 billion.

The second project concerns the purchase of 150 Schakal infantry fighting vehicles for approximately EUR 3.4 billion. Schakalas are produced by the German company Artec GmbH, a the contract will be performed by the European Defense Procurement Agency OCCAR. According to Reuters, deliveries are to start in 2027 and end in 2031. Moreover, the contract provides for the possibility of extending the order by 200 additional units.
The decision to place such a large order is part of the broader policy of Germany, which, after years of limiting military spending, is now investing intensively in the modernization of its army. In the face of growing tensions in the international arena, Berlin is focusing on technological development and increasing the operational capabilities of the Bundeswehr.
