For falsely reporting a crime, the court punished a 30-year-old resident of Krasnoyarsk with compulsory labor and a fine.
The woman contacted the duty station and stated that an unknown person on the street stole her son’s phone worth 6 thousand rubles. The police noticed that she spoke uncertainly about the events and was confused in her testimony. But during the inspection, the fact she reported was not confirmed.
“The police found that the woman herself gave her child’s mobile phone to the pawnshop and spent the money on personal needs. Upon returning home, her roommate asked where the gadget had gone. So that he wouldn’t suspect anything, she wrote a statement to the police about a fictitious crime, thinking that this way she could get the phone back faster,” said the Krasnoyarskoye Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Kirovsky District Court found the woman guilty under Part 1 of Art. 306 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Knowingly false denunciation” and sentenced to 320 hours of compulsory labor with a fine of 70 thousand rubles.
It should be noted that she had previously been convicted of property crimes.
