The tax regime for self-employed people in Russia will remain until 2028

Until the end of 2028, the tax regime for self-employed people in Russia will not change, reports TASS with reference to the government.

“No changes are planned in the working hours of the self-employed until the expiration of the experiment. The experiment has been carried out since 2019 and will end in 2028. During these years, taxation conditions remain the same,” the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers said.

Let us remind you that the Federation Council recommended government to complete the experiment with the “Professional Income Tax” in 2026.

A special tax regime for self-employed people has been in effect since 2019. It was introduced for 10 years. With income up to 2.4 million rubles. For the self-employed, a tax of 6% is provided for income from working with legal entities and 4% – with individuals.

As reported, by the end of 2024 the number of self-employed Nizhny Novgorod residents has grown 1.4 times, to 227 thousand, who paid 1.2 billion rubles in taxes to the consolidated budget of the region.
