One of the most unprofitable areas of Ukrzaliznytsia is suburban transportation. There is even a very poorly understanding passenger traffic, and it is there that there are concentrated problems with profitability, says the director of the Center for Transport Strategies Sergey Vovk.
He advised the UZ to introduce contactless passenger traffic regulations to understand the number of preferential passengers at all, and who should pay for their transportation. And this is a large layer of work that you need to do now.
Ignoring problems in the passenger segment has led to increased losses to critically. And the business that Ukrzaliznytsia is accustomed to “hanging” these losses, raising freight tariffs, is no longer able to close them – because he himself is in critical condition himself
