Deputy Prime Minister Tanczos Barna stated, at TVR Info, that he agrees with the administrative reform, but not with the abolition of the mayors, because they have developed a local identity. The Deputy Prime Minister of the UDMR believes that a different organization of the activity carried out by the town halls can be done, a possible merging of the specific services that each one is carrying, such as urbanism, accounting, land fund.

“I agree with the administrative reform, but not in the sense of defaulting the communes or cities or the attachment of communes for the sake of reform. I think that in the local administration system there are already some possibilities to bring under the same umbrella of services that will be provided for several mayors, for micro region, for example,” said the Deputy Prime Minister Barna.

He explained that the activity of urbanism – which each town hall has, could be managed by an association for inter -community development, as well as other specific activities – accounting, land fund issues, persons' records and even social aspects.

“From our point of view, of the UDMR, it is an alternative to an administrative reform, as other coalition colleagues propose, to dismantle the mayors. After passing this first hop with the reduction of expenses, I think this is the largest challenge, to find reform solutions that do not destroy everything that means the local community,” said the vice -pres.

According to him, “wanting, not wanting, these mayors, these communes have developed an identity, a local culture, a belonging of a community.”

“I do not think you want them all destroyed for the sake of saying,” Sir, I solved much. “
