The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, together with the European Business Association and other pharmaceutical market organizations, urge the authorities of Ukraine to veto the Law on Medications of Medicines No. 11493, which the Verkhovna Rada adopted on February 12, 2025.
Market experts emphasize that this Law is not able to reduce prices for them by this Law. On the contrary, the innovations provided by law destabilize the market and provoke other negative consequences.
New pricing principles will cause the disappearance of original drugs, leaving only cheap copies. Bureaucratic quotas for distributors will create a shortage of drugs and increase their cost. Pharmacies, especially in small and frontier cities, will also be threatened.

In the near future, industry experts will meet with representatives of the authorities to discuss the risks of the law. In addition to socio-economic problems, it contradicts EU standards (RIA) and can complicate relations with the United States, as evidenced by a negative assessment of the US Chamber of Commerce,-writes political scientist Vitaly Kulik. “We want another” front “in relations with the United States?” – asks the expert.
